And the Academy Award goes to….WWW – Win with Wilson for his dramatic portrayal of dismay and anger only to rebound after the overwhelming support of the community! Bravo! Bravo!!
PLEASE!!! To those who have watched these shenanigans time after time, we really shouldn’t be surprised. Our esteemed POA board member appears to be a master at playing to an audience – much as he did as a personal injury attorney. You can’t deny he has a captive one here.
Before calling foul - we’d like to call attention to a few important facts…
Our community was ecstatic with the announcements of Jill and Jaz hiring. We welcomed them with open arms – their knowledge, backgrounds, education, and leadership are just the thing we need here.
If you will recall, almost immediately after Jaz’s announcement was made, another announcement was made – the creation of a new role within Big Canoe – Assistant Club House Manager and our esteemed WWW’s lady friend was once again promoted under his watch. We do not begrudge her – she is a lovely, friendly person. She helped “keep the lights on” during our management transition. But one only need to do a Google search for an “Assistant Club House Manager” job description to see that she was woefully under-qualified for such a role.
We would argue that Jill and Jaz were put in a very difficult position with this promotion – again one which occurred just days after their respective announcements. Of course, they would support the decision / recommendation of an esteemed board member – why would he lead them wrong.
We have to believe that the decision to separate was a very difficult one with understandable political ramifications, but it was the RIGHT DECISION! As we move into the “off-season” the community’s leadership must continue to look for opportunities to trim costs. Let’s assume the role paid $65k plus the standard 35% for benefits – we had in increase in payroll by more than $85k for a job that had not previously existed within Big Canoe!
We don’t know the specifics behind the separation / termination. If it was indeed a “position elimination” then there would be no coaching, performance improvement plan, warning, etc. We suspect many of us within Big Canoe have found ourselves on one side or the other during a layoff. Never easy and usually without warning.
We’d like to ask the community to rally behind Jill and Jaz for doing the right thing for Big Canoe. WWW’s friend will land on her feet in another role – perhaps a role where his influence and meddling will not interfere with her success – success she has earned on her own….
The POA campaign is well underway. We hope that you all will use some discernment his antics continue….
